penguininja's blog

Hi all,

Lately I've been feeling the urge to rant a little more on my blog section, so the for benefit of those who are only interested in the comics I am splitting the RSS Feed in two.

http://theadventuresoflamp.com/rss.xml will continue to be the comics feed with occasional website news.

http://theadventuresoflamp.com/blogs/penguininja/rss.xml will be a new feed of my blog entries (most likely discussing drupal, linux, the evils of comcast, soccer, dogs, ukuleles, and whatever the hell else I feel like talking about).

And as always you can find me on twitter at http://twitter.com/penguininja

Enjoy!

The title pretty much says it all. I actually had *paying* work to do on today so bills take precedence over comic drawing. And what the hell, Friday's comic was fun so I'll just leave that up 'til Wednesday. Hope y'all had a good weekend!

Sorry for the lack of comic Friday; I may have had a little too much fun at the Portland Timbers home opener on Thursday night followed by a nice, lazy weekend. Here's Monday's comic early as consolation, Go Timbers!

It has been brought to my attention recently that in Monday's comic, "Radio Love," the age difference between the two featured characters is quite pronounced. I can assure everyone, however, that both the old-time radio and the alarm clock are of age and very consenting. So instead, I encourage you all to take this opportunity to reflect on their boundless affection and romance.

Hi all,

Just a short post to announce that the "Adventures of Lamp" store is now online, complete with shirts, buttons, cards, and magnets at:

http://cafepress.com/lampcomics

Check it out and let me know if there are any designs, shirt styles, etc. you'd like to see.

Thanks!
Candice

Thanks to my current bout of unemployedness (ahem, anyone need a freelance drupal web designer?), starting next week I'll be updating The Adventures of Lamp every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Also, I've been experimenting with some more complex comics (mostly thanks to my new Wacom tablet), so please let me know what you think about how TAoL is evolving!

On another note, @bonniegee has informed me of a disturbing trend that has been maliciously infecting our nation: Lamp Abandonment. This atrocious practice is well illustrated by the following video:

So help raise awareness of Lamp Abondonment by sending this video to your friends! Or hop on over to St. Vinnie's or your local vintage shop and save a lamp today from this terrible fate.

Hi All,

Sorry for the late post today, but the good news is "The Adventures of Lamp" is now hosted on a REAL WEBSERVER! That's right, the site no longer lives under the TV in my living room, which means faster load times and way better stability (i.e. it won't crash when I'm watching something in HD on my server anymore). Upcoming changes may include the Drupal Scheduler module (so the comic will post at the same time every week) and Creative Commons licensing.

Anyway, let me know if I broke anything in the website move: theadventuresoflamp@gmail.com

Well the website's up and running, thanks to everybody who gave me feedback on it. Now to focus on more important things, like the new episode of battlestar tonight! The final cylon returns!? Oh noes! On a related note, I'm pretty sure that my dog is a cylon sleeper agent. Why else would she be conspiring with the roomba?

Anyways, my next project is to get the Adv. of Lamp homepage to automatically redirect to the latest comic page (I'm using a Views/Custom Pagers combination for the next/previous/first/last links). Right now I can get it to display the last comic by making Views export the most recent comic as a page, but then the fivestar ratings block at the bottom disappears :/ Anyone with Drupal experience have any ideas? Let me know!
